Denise Tsujisaka
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Denise Tsujisaka discovered her love of art in college, where she developed a particular interest in watercolor. After graduation, she turned to photography and set painting aside while pursuing a 30-year career as an elementary school teacher.
Retirement brought Denise back to watercolor with a renewed appreciation for color, detail, and composition—qualities shaped by her years behind the camera. She is especially inspired by flowers, critters, and the vibrant imagery of Día de los Muertos. She also creates commissioned watercolor paintings of brides’ bouquets, preserving meaningful flowers and memories.
Denise’s artistic style reflects both her photographic background and her lifelong appreciation for the expressive illustrations found in children’s books. Through her paintings, she brings together color, detail, and storytelling.
She continues to substitute teach and paint whenever inspiration strikes. Denise lives locally with her son and her dog, Ollie.
